Our parish wants to build a new cultural-social and missionary center, which will replace the current one, and which will be more spacious, equipped with modern facilities. This space will allow us to continue carrying out catechetical, social-philanthropic, cultural and missionary activities. The Romanian community will enjoy a much more suitable and efficient space for carrying out projects intended for the Romanian community, the goal being to preserve and develop the Romanian linguistic, cultural and spiritual identity.
This center will play a fundamental role in preserving, developing and affirming the ancestral Orthodox spiritual identity, Romanian traditions and customs. Here, new generations will be able to enjoy all of this and discover their roots and Romanian identity. We want the projects carried out in this new space to strengthen and maintain the connection of our community with Romania, to further strengthen the identity consciousness of the Romanian community, a fundamental element for the perpetuation of the traditions and specificity of our Romanian people.
With the support of our community, and through the efforts of our newly formed project team, the project is now well under way. We have received and reviewed quotes from several construction companies, a builder was chosen, a contract has been signed and deposit was paid. At the same time, all necessary Council approvals have been obtained and the construction certificate is being finalized, with the demolition works due to commence after the funds have been secured.
The initial fundraising was achieved through the generosity of our parishioners and the Romanian community in Australia. Although these donations helped kick start the project, the amount raised does not cover the construction of the new hall. The parish committee is actively applying for grants from the Australian and Romanian governments to help us build this center, while we continue to seek your support. Any contribution amount will help us reach the total funds necessary to build this center and will make this long awaited dream become a reality.
